Free Text QR Code Generator

Not every QR should open a website. Encode a short string — a Wi‑Fi note, table number, serial, or instructions — and scanners see the text immediately.

  • Shows text on scan — no browser required
  • Ideal for short passwords, IDs, and notes
  • Shorter text = easier scans from farther away

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Type the text

Keep it short when you can. Dense codes get harder to scan from print and packaging.

  2. Step 2

    Style the code

Use high-contrast colors. Optional logo and frames still work for short payloads.

  3. Step 3

    Download

Export PNG or SVG. The text is inside the image — no server lookup when someone scans.

Good for

One-time passwords and codes

Share a redemption code or door code without printing it in readable type.

Asset and serial labels

Encode a SKU or equipment ID for warehouse and field teams.

Instructions and notes

Short setup steps or “scan for table number” where a URL is unnecessary.

FAQ

Is there a length limit?

Yes — we cap text so the QR stays scannable from print. Longer text makes denser modules that fail more often on paper.

Is a text QR the same as a WiFi QR?

No. A WiFi QR uses a special WIFI: format phones can join automatically. Plain text just displays characters. Use the WiFi tab in the full generator for network join codes.

Is it free?

Yes. Plain-text QR codes are static and free forever on QRtistry.
